The above picture was taken in the staging lanes during the first round of eliminations at the 2006 Stock and Super Stock Combo Event at Kanawha Valley Motorsports Park in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
"The above pictures were taken in 2006 During a Stock/Super Stock Event at Kanawha Valley Motorsports Park, in Charleston, West Virgina. Roberts' Family Motorsports placed 3rd in a strong field of East Coast Stock and Super Stock Racers. This was a very important accomplishment for us getting to the final 3 cars."
The above pictures were taken on May 30, 2009. First round of time trials at Middle Tennessee Dragway in Buffalo Valley, Tennessee. We went 2 Rounds, turning the red light on in the second round. The car was very slow with a corrected attitude at 2711 feet above sea level. A faulty carburetor caused the cylinders to flood destroying the rings!
After our motor failed, we removed it and went through the engine components. Fortunately, the cylinders were not hurt. The engine received a new set of Federal Mogul Piston Rings and received a new set of gaskets and seals from Felpro and Mr. Gasket. The Rod and Main Bearings were like new and were reused. A new Stock Eliminator Cam was ordered andshipped to our Camby shop from the fine Folks at Lunati, located in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The Cam and Valve Train were dialed in and a new Double Roller Timing Chain and Gears from Cloyes were installed to enhance the valve train operation. The Q-Jet Carburetor was meticulously overhauled and adjusted. As of this posting, the motor is alive and well and propelling our Stocker under the IHRA Class Index.
During our engine rebuild this past May, our heads were checked and serviced. The IHRA specs for these heads are 55cc chambers. It is incredible how much power this 305 makes with stock components.
Here is our Pure Stock 305 power plant.
As of August 2, Our Stock Eliminator Wagon is back under the Class H - Pure Stock National Index after losing the piston rings at Middle Tennessee Dragway. The final adjustments on the Carburetor put the Wagon well under the National Class Index at Brown County Dragway in Bean Blossom, Indiana. The 60 foot times are flirting with 1.80 second times that is outstanding for a Pure Stocker with a low horsepower motor. The question remains...."Will Roberts' Family Motorsports try to set the H - Pure Stock Class National Record?" Stay tuned!!!!!
Thanks to Shane and all of the fine folks at Lunati, located in Olive Branch, MS. There expertise in preparing a good Stock Eliminator Camshaft with matching lifters has placed our Wagon back to superior performance. We have used Lunati Cams since 1996.
Here it is!(above) The Wagon is Back with Good Very Good Performance and Very Strong 60' times. Thanks Again to Lunati Cams for the Performance and Special Thanks go to the Entire Roberts' Family for helping to put the engine back together the right way for added performance gains!!! It feels awesome behind the wheel!!!
OUR FIRST ATTEMPT TO SET THE CLASS RECORD WILL BE SOON. WE ARE NOT SURE WHICH IHRA TRACK WE WILL MAKE THE ATTEMPT, BUT IT WILL BE SOON!!!
